The UNDP Office no longer provides transport to and from the airport due to easy access and availability of local transport. Taxis are available at the airport with a one-way trip costing FCFA 5,000 approximately US$10.00. However, in case of emergency and upon request, UNDP office will provide transport between the airport and town. The requesting Agency will be debited with the resulting charge of US$10.00 one way. The UNDP Office cannot undertake to provide transport to official missions during their stay in Niger, neither in Niamey or Inland. Visitors who foresee a need in this respect should, prior to arrival, secure from their Agencies authorization to hire a vehicle locally or alternatively, ensure that the Government intends to provide them with transport. The field missions should make necessary arrangements for rent of car from private companies as UNDP office will no longer provided such assistance to them in view of the unavailability of vehicles.
The Niger authorities wish to be advised well in advance of the arrival and purpose of missions. No firm appointment is ever made before the actual arrival of the mission, but this enables the departments concerned to plan their schedule. In order to assist in preparing work programmes for visitors, the UNDP office requires three weeks advance notice.
